I was talking about the ads on ITV
I realise Australia is quite a diverse country because of the Immigration from throughout the world. I just notice that every ad on British (virtually every one) has a racially mixed family when a family is shown, however, my experience of blending of races is pretty much the same as on Clarkson's farm, where he says Amazon want this show to be diverse, and he pans the camera round the farm sale and says " there is every type of 60 year old white man here". From this respect, I feel that adverts do not represent the society I notice around me.

I'm guessing the ad companies do market research and simply aim at the most receptive audience. Old geezers like me are fixed in our ways and won't change so they show an idealized right-on middle class world for those with most money. These folks all seem to want to virtue-signal and buy the most trendy products
We had lunch on Sunday with half a dozen friends from Mrs Fred's sheep showing community, and I was the only "full time" farmer although obviously everyone lived in the country,, doing estate work, working in a countrystore, handyman jobs and Riding therapy. When the subject of TV viewing came up. it turned out that everyone had stopped their license and ditched the tellie, the only TV between us being the one Mrs Fred still has at her late dad's cottage which is still under his license. If this is typical, the ad men won't be bothered about selling to our sorts as we are beyond redemption.

I wonder if @Farmer Roy can tell us if he has heard of Joey Carbstrong on any Australian TV or social media recently, but perhaps Joey finds townies are a lot easier to manipulate than outback people ;)

i hate to dispel the myth, but the UK probably has a higher % of "rural" people than we do.

we are apparently one of the most urbanised countries in the western world, with something like 90 % of our population living in that thin coastal strip about 100km wide along our east coast, between Melbourne & Brisbane. We have a higher urban % of our population than Japan . . .
