South Korea trade deal (in principle)

There was an interview on BBC news by a small business owner who pointed out no-deal would not matter to SMEs- small and medium enterprises since over 90 percent of them do not do any business abroad yet employ 65% of the workforce. He made the point that continued EU membership saddled SME with continued EU regulation but for no benefit unlike the big companies who do export.

Fudge em down the road.

Really this is your understanding of the UK economic model? You need to go and do some "googling" of supply chains into and out of SMEs? The days of trading around in circles is long gone.

Oh right and you are a member of the SME??

Put simply what do you or sargeant surrender monkey know about it?

There’s no need for a definite article, as SME is an acronym and “the SME” is not an organisation.

I own and run an SME in the supply chain to major industry - and have been affected by Brexit already, so I understand as much if not more than the small business owner on the radio. I also have a very good understanding of the constraints we work under and am happy that there is no gross disproportion originating from EU regulations.

I also don’t respond well to insults, so widen your neck in please - there is no need and it just reflects badly on you.

I also run two SMEs.... and work with hundreds.

The bloke you referenced has the same level of understanding you demonstrate.
I speak from experience and not from opinion.

Why is your opinion any more valid than his??

It’s not, if we both stick to what we know to be correct from experience. However, from what you wrote he has obviously extrapolated his experiences to claim no Brexit ill effects of all SMEs, and my personal experiences are such that I know his extrapolation skills are incorrect. He also is reported by yourself to have claimed EU regulation was disproportionately saddling SME, and again my experiences are that this is not always the case.

What’s your experience of running SMEs in the supply chain then?

'In your experience'.... great so thats anecdotal then?

Any change in the external environment businesses operate within always presents opportunities and threats. How they affect a business is entirely down to each. What is bad for you is good for another. So in reality you opinion is driven by agenda. Both of you are.

I dont care either way. I have no skin in the game and cannot influence the outcome now. The man on the street got a vote, business doesnt and that is how democracy works.

The remainers have consistently relied on moans and groans and blamed everything short of the weather on brexit but despite the best predictions of the BoE, CBI and god knows what 'experts' nothing has happened.

The public are fed up with politicians and remainers complaining and its time to sort it. They wont listen to the above so why should any of us put any more faith in either of you?

Olly, if you’d read my reply properly (a skill you should probably work on for your future life), and the reasons I put, you’d realise that you are agreeing with me, violently, and contradicting your own source.

I’ll paraphrase to save you trouble:

Your source: “no deal would not matter to SMEs”.

Me: “That’s not true”

You: “Prove it”

Me: “I’m an SME and it matters to me”

You: “why does your opinion matter?”

Me: “it doesn’t, but my experience shows that your guy was wrong”

You: “any change presents opportunities and threats”

Now, where do we go from now? Why not go back and read our entire conversation, and see that your last comment is a direct rebuttal of your own source. Again, I’ll save you the trouble.

Typical complainer obfuscation.:banghead:

Your view is no different to anyone else's, despite your opinion, experience, dice rolls or pendulum swings.

You know full well what I have inferred from my posts. I do not have the time today to play at pedantry, I'm sorry. We can sit here all day picking daisies and pretend we need to be spoonfed every word, I don't have the inclination today.

I’ll wait.

Never have I claimed my opinion or experience is any more important that anyone else’s, in fact exactly the opposite. I’ve just pointed out that:

A. the opinion of the guy you cited is likewise not any more important;

B. Your own stated experience contradicts what the guy you cited.

Nothing to do with remain or leave, despite what you think.

The guy on the News did make valid points. You may choose not agree with them, or they might not fit your agenda, but he made them and I have no reason to doubt the arguments he cited.

My arguments are formed in a different way. At no time have I ever said there would be no downsides of brexit. HE made that point.
