Thanks for all the replies.

Have now cleared the straw and sown all the fields. Very dry , some rain forecast tomorrow. Broadcast at a range of seed rates from 2 - 3+ kg acre ( in honesty ,with my kit ,I’ve only got limited control on that ). Hopping for some nice feed around ankle height ,but will probably get a field of radishes and muckerweed . “ This time next year Rodney “ I think is the phrase.

I sowed my 17ac on Friday too, rape & turnips mixed in the end, at a rate of 2.5kg/ac (‘ish).
I broadcast on the top with a slug pelleter after we finally had a thunderstorm, and would have left it at that if we’d had more. The ground was so dry though, that the 10mm of rain was gone in no time and it stayed dry after, so I ran over it quickly with a shortdisc just scratting the top as shallow as possible (1-2” max).

Rain started just as we finished shearing yesterday afternoon, drizzled all night and more forecast today/tomorrow. I’ll chuck a bit of fert on today, then shut the gate.

Did last two fields Friday. One worked up a bit then scattered on, other broadcast.

Both rolled. 75% redstart 25% Sampson. Good moisture in ground after 18mm of rain Thursday.

Cleared some spring barley ground today and direct drilling St T as we speak. Think they would be better cultivated in but don’t want to disturb any spring barley volunteers and so give St T more of a chance.
will be interesting to see how all of us planting in last few days go on ? Keep in touch 👀👀👀👀. My guess is @Norfolk Hill Farmer has a very good chance with that nice cultivated land especially if you get a drop of rain.

Rain forecast for tomorrow so finger crossed. No real rain for the last few weeks so mighty dry on there.
Been lucky with the fields sown early August , went into moisture and got plenty of rain every few days. Volunteers have been a problem on some of the fields, stunting the turnip growth then getting diseased themselves and withering up. :( Will post some pictures when next look round.
