We mainly use it after drilling and before rolling as it does a great job of levelling ridges left by Claydon and breaking large clods, then rolls do a much more effective job. It doesn't do much as a first pass over stubble unless ground is moist or lighter land. It is also impossible to block it with trash!

It's not often the ground isn't moist up here. Have you used it when things are a bit to moist?

No, following them. An earlier field was cultivated after the harvester, but as it's been dry I thought this one could be drilled direct. The Maxxum is too fidgety to diagonally cross rows and keep the drilling acceptably straight, probably would be fine with the JD6930.

Never the Claydon strong point but between 1-2". Though the harvester had rolled it flat the front tines created a bow wave on our light soil which the twin following harrows sort of level. I do wonder if we'd be better with batter boards.

Spring cereals don't seem to do too well here, it's usually too dry. Just spuds and beet for us to do in the spring.

Hopefully the last 25acres will be pre-emed in the morning too.
