SP Sprayer windscreen

I’ve managed to drive in to the back of my combine and smashed the very big curved windscreen on my Chafer 418. There is only on left in Europe and it’s £5400! I would rather wear goggles and a gas mask than pay that. I’m thinking my options are either modify the frame to take flat glass or get some sort of polycarbonate replacement. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for my predicament?

other than don’t drive in to things and make sure you have glass covered on the insurance 😭

I had the bright idea of changing it to TPF&T last year

Don’t ask me why - it saved a pittance.
Check the wording of your policy to see if it includes glass cover. My TX66 windscreen cracked in the shed over winter just before I was due to sell it, insurance paid up with an excess of £50.

I’ve checked - glass is only on fully comp.

A good question. I don’t have a good answer other than last year I got fed up with paying so much insurance having not made a claim for 20 years +, so I had the bright idea of making it as cheap as possible. It’s fair to say that this decision has come back to bight me in the arse.
