Spaldings flatlift

Is a flatlift a good subsoiler?
Are they any use in grassland?
Or am I far better with an erth etc?

If you have the HP and can get it in deep enough ,they are a good subsoiler ,a 3 leg in at 14inch will make 160hp grunt ,,if you want it just for grassland then no as they leave big holes when you lift out at the headlands

If you want to loosen the ground properly then use a Flatlit, if you want to give it a tickle then use the Earth or the many others

The holes at the end can be prevented by stopping, reversing and lifting it out,the wheels will close two of the three perfectly

Even less mess once the wings rear edge is sharp.

What are they like for shear bolts? Can they handle a bit of stone?

Depends what you mean by stone. Football sized will break shearbolts, I use standard m16 bolts, occasionally a bugger to get out but stronger and cheaper than genuine shearbolts with the cutout.

Agree with the above , Spalding's make a retro kit to fit hydraulic trip to the legs , it's not cheap. Could be copied quite easily I would have thought.
