Why ? :scratchhead: wood's cheaper than insulation
also todays reges for insulation in between rafters is 220 mm,so you use insulated felt ,3ins of inulation in between, and twenty five mm nailed to rafters covering the lot, much better no drafts, must be carefull around wall plate area to seal up gaps

Taking all this on board. It is an attic but maybe being used in the future but currently not allowed to make into rooms as I think the sq ft goes over permitted development rules. Just about managed to swing the stairs going up to it instead of a loft ladder as dad said he was elderly and thought a ladder was unsafe.

Sorry 12" x 2"
4" overall width. I had brain freeze. Structural engineer comes up every Monday and is happy and the building inspector keeps popping in , I think he likes to get out of office.
Only problem is the local parish council have realised what's happening!

What problems are the Parish Council creating ?
I am a Councillor & some of my fellow councillors are nosey buggers, I slap them down on planning issues when I get the chance.

They probably feel that they've been cut out of the process and lost their chance to have a good object to the development.:LOL:

Permitted development so none of their business. :ROFLMAO:

For what it's worth, our PC has commented on recent applications in our village, either object, neutral or support - and the planners seem to have done the opposite of what the PC has said. It really annoys me at meetings, wasting so much time sticking their jealous noses into other people's business
