Spray in sprayer

Rain came on just as I got to the field last night. So sitting with herbicide and mancuflo in the tank. Windy today with passing showers. Been giving it a mix every couple of hours.
Do i take the first half chance or sit it out?

Mancuflo is a suspension, so keep it well stirred up & do a good washout at the end. Luckily it's compatible with most things so shouldn't matter if there's some left at the end.

Only time I’ve ever had an issue was with pendamethlin mixed in with some other stuff. I clobbered a power pole and bust a boom line. By the time I got it fixed it was dark and raining. 2 days later once the weather was good to go and despite several agitations it had blocked everything and took several hours, a lot of dismantling, a lot of power washing and a lot of gallons of water to get it running again.

If it ever happens again it’s getting sprayed out regardless if it’s raining or not.

What was the other stuff?
To be honest I can’t remember but will admit the sprayer was new to me and I just threw everything in like I did with it’s predecessor giving little thought to agitation. Not realising the pump and agitation set up was very different.

Some of the mix was granulated as well which didn’t help.

I bust the line the first run up the field and with hindsight realised it prob wasn’t mixed properly.

Nowadays I add stuff a lot slower to it and make sure it’s agitated well before moving off the filling pad.

Older pendimethalin formulations were bad for settling out. Any suspensions used here & the sprayer agitation and boom purge are left on until starting spraying. We try not to leave a suspension in the tank overnight if at all possible.

I leave agitation on in the Sprayranger permanently however it’s been fitted with a raven rate controller with a hyd drive pump that by design will only give 4 bar pressure max. If pushing on it gets to the point where there is no return flow to agitate.

If you're spraying then there will be enough movement anyway. It's when the tank contents are stationary for days that the solids drop out.

First time ever this year I had to leave some PDM in the tank due to the fields I had gone to spray it on for pre em maize were too wet and I was making a bloody awful mess, stirred it up a couple of time and thankfully I had blown some clean water through the booms from the front tank, when I went to spray it out three days later it had settled out in the bottom of the tank, couldnt even get it out the drain, had to use out 12 volt pump to pump all the liquid out and then took the pipe from the tank to the pump off to clean it and then the steam cleaner to wash it all lose again, all in about three hours work, wont make that mistake again, dont think it helped that it was some really cheap sh!t pdm to start with came out the cans in lumps

The older PDM formulations that looked like red diesel when they came didn't settle out did they? I know they stained but I find these suspension ones sh!t in comparison.

Don't remember it being a problem before and never had an issue with crystal either but the stuff I spray on maize for folk is some thick glup

I have often wondered if it would be practical to use an electric pump to keep the spray agitating in the tank when it has to stand for a day or so. Maybe one you could suspend inside the tank lid so the inlet and outlet pipes were both inside the tank in case one split.

I guess there's nothing stopping you hanging one through the lid, worth a try.
