Spray or dip?

I’m about to start lambing, have always dipped navels with a dairy teat cup. Thinking of spraying with iodine this year. Cross contamination of iodine with dipping and I ended up with iodine burns on my hands last year which were bloody painful. Spraying would help stop this but may not be so good for navels.

Dipping is a far better job. You'll still get your hand covered in iodine with spraying. Wear milking gloves here

What do you use for spraying? Can never get anything to last more than a few days here before the pump stops working.

Always used a spray when we lambed indoors and it always did the job well.

Gone are the days when iodine used to stain your hands for weeks on end like you’d ran out of toilet paper, a few washes and it’s off now

I use a Naked smoothie bottle now. Nice wide neck to put over navel, more of a lip to stop too much spillage and you can put cap on between lambs.

And, best of all, my wife buys them in the first place (great value in a Tesco meal deal lol).

If got a small oil container, if l had a pound for every lamb of Iodine with it, l wouldn't be lambing sheep in this weather, still get it on hands

An old Ritchie plastic spray bottle. Got it years ago from the vets and just refill it with fresh iodine when it's empty.

Had it for longer than I remember .

Spray here, mix with meth spirits to help ot dry quicker, used to dip but found it messy

spray with 10% , we use same bottles as @shearerlad (best ones are made in mexico about £1.50 -£2.00 each) ,good for treating rams heads in summer too , had issues with joint ill many years ago with a dip bottle when iodine got contaminated well on through lambing ,
a good soak with a spray will do the same job and use less chem , my old man used to say you can only get them wet once just make sure you cover the whole navel
