Are they a similar mode of action ?

Which would you use, Axial or Broadway Star ?
Hatra is 2 SUs, axial is pinoxaden an ACCase. It depends on what weeds you are planning on. Hatra may restrict any further use of SUs in wheat. It depends if you are planning more weed sprays or not.

If using hatra first can’t see the need for an application of axil, hatra would sort wild oats and grasses out and some blw, it would be fair spend applying both!
Not always, wouldn’t rely on it for 100% control on wild oats

Yes it is, in the west it works well yet! We don’t use it often try to keep grassweed problems to a minimum here.

I'm left with Axial & Broadway Star .. trying Broadway Star using a Nap Sack at the moment to see if it actually works 🤔

Would like to do some more today but wondering if the cold spell is a good or bad thing ? Should I wait till Monday ? Not as though this kind of thing is put on the labels.

I applied a similar product to hates a week ago. In another week I'll be rolling the wheat. If there is any ryegrass that escapes; germinates late etc then I will use sword or axial. This is not resistant ryegrass btw. I chose the hatra as previously there was bg. There is no history of Atlantis use, and the land has come out if grass so I mainly targetted ryegrass with the hope any bg would be done too. It's got four more arable years ahead now so will be vigorously rogued.

What are you trying to control?

Italian Ryegrass.

Ploughing combined with pre emergance has worked quite well on the majority of the fields. However, where the old man (He gets the blame !) has failed to bury the trash - we've got a failure to control the Ryegrass.

Similar problem on a field the same person decided not to plough - I shall have to wait until harvest before I can truely say "I told you so" concerning ploughing. However, being a smart alec doesn't help with the weeds.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

BTW Atlantis did nothing post emergence as I told the argonamist it would - which again doesn't help unfortunately.

Best leave the sprays alone until the temperature fluctuations settle down. Chemicals will work better on actively growing weeds not under stress.

That's sort of what I was thinking .. but also tempered with the idea that if the plant absorbs the chemical over the next few days and then has a growth spurt on Monday .. will that tip the balance on the Metabalism of the chemical ?

Plants won’t absorb anywhere near as well when shut down for stress. The chemicals may still work but less efficiently. The crop and the weeds will not race away until the soil is moist and warm so no rush just now. Soil temperatures only rise slowly.
