Sprayer problem.

Went to spray off some barley for a neighbour snapper glyphosate, chaperone wetter. Used that mix for him several times already without problems.

Yesterday started, most of nozzles blocked. Went home took them off unblocked them all and went to start again. Same again, most blocked within minutes.

So went home again, dropped contents of tank into Ibcs. Couldn't see anything floating about in tank contents. Removed all filters, Completely clean.

Any ideas what problem could be? It looks like a pink stringy material in nozzles. It's obviously bypassing filters. I know glyphosate is a good tank cleaner. But I have been spraying just glyphosate since early August.

Here goes a nozzle. They weren't all this bad.

Had the same with half a dozen nozzles. Snapper and chaperone as well. Thought it was something I’d just done. Could the pink stringy be manganese?

I get something similar if I store mixed glyphosate+conditioner, but filters sucking it back into the tank usually sorts it out.
Were you in a hurry and forgot to flush your booms last time you used it?

How long has there been glyphosate in the system for? Diluted gly will become scummy and stringy if left in a warm place.

My tank hygiene has not been as good as normal. I would normally rinse out with clean water every time I'm finished. Been a bit smash and grab with harvest. Been jumping off sprayer onto a baler. So rinsing out been neglected.

That tank and equipment cleaner is good stuff.

I have known people have a problem with a dirty tank or lines even after using all clear. You can't beat 'distance' between crops. I.e, you have been using a herbicide and fungicide mix on a cereal crop, then go and do another cereal crop with just fungicide before switching to say, OSR.

My 'spider-senses' don't like dirt cheap glyphosate products. Never have. Better to stick to brands and products you know well and with a manufacturer that will at least play fair if you have an issue.
