Got some herbicide (Chronicle) and some insecticide (Gocha) recs. Agron telling me best to wait 2 days either side of a frost!! Rather difficult in winter! A scheduled frost tomorrow (Thurs night into fri), thinking of smacking some on this avo. Thoughts?

I hate autumn spraying!

Chronicle label states avoid spraying during periods of prolonged or severe frosts, I would assume this early into the winter and down in your part of the country any frosts will still be reasonably short and not very hard. In which case I would get it on. I wouldn't imagine the insecticide will cause any damage frost or not.
I also am not a fan of autumn spraying, sticky fields, frosts to contend with, short days, often windy. Not all that much fun though needs must.
Edit: Just to add your agronomist is a trained advisor, I am not, the above is just what I would do (y)

To be fair to agron, this is info he got from the manufacturer. Not had problems with Chronicle before, despite spraying day of evening of frost, whereas a different but similar product knocked the crop hard.
The insecticide is by all accounts harder on crop than the herbi, think he is more concerned about this.
It just a good spraying day here tho as it happens I probably won't have time today anyway - problem solved (y)

No frosts predicted for Wimborne. What altitude are you? 10 oC tonight but 3 oC tomorrow night & Friday night. We've been out doing Astrokerb & Refinzar on osr today.

Autumn spraying means it's only dry enough to travel when it's cold!

TBH not sure what altitude is, few miles out of Shaftesbury - not on a hill.

I can never find any information on frost predictions other than looking at forecasted temps and cloud cover. Mild tonight, tomorrow night 2/3°c with clear skies into early Friday. As you know it doesn't have to be 0° to have a frost

I suspect I am being a little precious about the whole thing, but if I get a warning as such, what can I do? Probably manufacturer just covering themselves.
Should have just smacked some on, but digger and digger man arrived this afternoon to put some drains and pipes in, so can't kick myself too much.

TBH I find autumn spraying rather stressful :(. A narrowing window and livestock that take priority.

Astrokerb on OSR? I'll have some of that to do next week as well:rolleyes:. Can you do it in a frost........

Astrokerb ideally on to a drying leaf

In general l don’t worry if a touch of grass frost. Generally you can’t be too fussy.....

Exactly. If you read and interpreted the warnings on the label of your average pesticide in a literal way, you would never use it. Do not spray if: crop stressed by drought, heat, cold, frost, waterlogging, Moon not in alignment with your yin-yang etc., etc., etc.

Got to be a Pearce’s customer. Got the same rec for a customer. Ground has got very sticky!

Yeah, I think I am being a bit precious about it all. Got some more pressing sh!t to be dealing with at mo so hopefully deal with it at weekend. Thanks for all the "man up and just get on with it" messages (y)

You won't hurt anything with Chronicle. Used it a trillion times. Probably the safest thing to chuck on a crop.

Mixing full rate crystal and dursban and then applying them post-em in the autumn because they were late going on with it, I'd be more cautious.
