Spraying for aphids in spring oats ?

I’m trying to avoid using aphidcides the best I can but still new to all this approach. What’s people’s thoughts on this ? My agronomist view was while we were going through the crop with a herbicide, growth reg etc we might aswell put an aphidcide on.

Why? Are aphids present?

What product was the agronomist recommending? What commission do they get from selling you the insecticide?

He is an independant so I don't think he will be getting any? Cleancrop Argent ( lamb0.05da-cyhalothrin 100g/l) at 0.05l/ha

Cleancrop is an Agrii product. I'd have a chat with your agronomist to see why they recommended it & explain what you're trying to work towards. You haven't given your location or any more details of when the crop was sown to help understand what your risk is. BYDV or just aphid feeding on the plants? What are you trying to work towards? You've posted this in a DD forum rather than Cropping so you must be doing something other than lots of tillage & prophylactic spraying.

I posted it in here as I presumed people in here maybe be in tune in were I'm trying to head towards which is not using Insecticides.

I farm east of Hull the oats where sown 26th of March its growth stage is at 29. Sown at 325s/m

I saw the picture you posted of a very nice looking crop It would help everyone else understand and be able to reply informatively if you put your approximate area on your profile.

The risk of BYDV is very low. The risk of sap sucking aphids reducing yield is even lower. Nailing everything with a broad spectrum insecticide like Argent will do more damage to beneficial insects than it will protect your pocket, in my opinion.

Don’t do it. We NEED the industry and agronomists to get away from this ‘might as well’ attitude.

Have you got aphids or have the local traps found them??
The type of weather from hot to frost is not conducive to aphids.
You have to look at your local situation.
I sell a product against Leatherjackets and after the epedemics in the past thought that it was a winner. However it seems "so far" that maybe with Dursban we were knocking off the beneficials as much if not more than the LJ's.
Bearing in mind I predominantly dealt with organic or small grass farmers any increase was going to be mega. That financially for me did not happen however as a believer in regenerative Ag I am not too disappointed.
