Is this spring supply above ground, or is it below ground? Exactly what product(s) did you use? What LERAP rating does it have, if any?

The minimum buffer zone to streams is 5m. The buffer zone is 30- 50 metres from a spring. If the roundup gets washed into a tank or well then it will not degrade.
I think you should seek further advice and get his supply tested.
....and make sure you have a map of buffer zones before the inspection

If it was Roundup360 proactive, then that is used in certain aquatic applications - but if you /they sprayed this without knowing the literature spec you could be in trouble if he reports you, as you need an additional qual to spray on /near water.

Also, rules will differ for drinking purposes, so it could be a difficult one this.

Oh, and I would have thought your records should have the documentation on the application amount etc provided by the person doing the spraying, if you do not have it, I would ask for it ASAP (y)

Or good ,he will know rules then hopefully and be insured?

Hold on mind, was the contractor advised there was a spring the other side of the hedge? You can't go pinning the blame on him just like that.

I would get the necessary paperwork in order, speak to the neighbour concerned and explain the mistake. By the sounds of it there should have been a buffer zone around the spring, although if it is underground I would think it is extremely unlikely any chemical will make its way down that far. Might have to pay for some water testing which will not be crazy expensive.

.

Unfortunately during your competency training - you are told you must assess the site, looking for these kinds of things.
One is not supposed to assume there is nothing over a hedge etc - thus if an untrained person pays a contractor to do the work, it therefore falls onto them to evaluate the workplace to be sure it is safe to apply said chems.

There are lots of glyphosate formulations with 360 in the name. It's the most common strength. It would be best to know exactly what product was used.

That's why I stated 'IF' it was and gave a view on that one, as well as adding the comment about should have the literature about spraying qty etc, if not get it ASAP ;)
