Spraying, time of day

There was a long post on ages ago about the best time of day to spray roundup etc and one chap sprayed mostly at night, can anyone find it??? Or when is best time?

When your doing it yourself the best times are 4am - 8am week days and then all weekend, especially Fri, sat and sun evenings 6pm to 10pm.

You don't realise this until you take the job back in hand and then understand the previous job hasn't been effective because it's being done at the wrong times.

If the wind is in the west, dusk is best, or early morning. The west wind generally falls light at night here.

If it's in the east, then late afternoon not later than 5 pm as for some reason the east wind picks up speed here as the sun goes down.

An east wind here is a nightmare for spraying.

Glyphosate is best applied early in the morning. The opposite is true for diquat (Reglone). I don't know about doing it at night but have dosed many 000 of ha at night in Australia due to wind and excessive spray evaporation during the day.

I was recently told by an expert that dew is fine, as long as it dries out. In fact it may be more effective.

The dew will allow better spray coverage. It's like spraying at a higher water volume.

I once sprayed reglone on a crop to kill it. Soon after there was a light rain shower. I expected there to be almost no activity, but the kill was better than the area I'd sprayed the day before and didn't have rain soon after.

There is obviously a fine line between some water/dew on a leaf, and too much which then causes runoff
