Spraying

Yet some more questions, what are pre-em's, I know they are a spray that is put on before the crop has emerged, I think, but what are they for? Do all crops need them? Also what do people mean when they say something like 'this was sprayed off a couple of days ago and will be harvested soon' what is the point in spraying something off before it's harvested, what is the purpose in it?

Call me cynical, (especially after reading and applying a recommended mix recently which had at best marginal effect, in spite of being applied in optimal conditions).

The more treatments agronomists recommend, the more money the chem companies make and the more margin the agronomists make on top. I'm not saying the treatments aren't needed I just question the amount, frequency and cost benefit to the farmer.

a nick name for pre- em is 'blanket spray' like a thin blanket over the soil.
