Spring barley fungicides

It’s been a long time since I’ve grown spring barley, what are people using for fungicides and growth regs this year? Crop looks well with good potential

No growth regs here, I never apply them to spring barley but if your on fertile land or pushing it with lots of N then CCC+/-modus followed by terpal but that would be the extreme.
Fungicides 0.4 siltra or Fandango or prothio and strobe but they are all similar money, infact Fandango would probably be dearer for a weaker product.
T2 siltra, revystar, elatus or Fandango all similar money. Revystar is the muts nuts choice and will give ramularia control which may be important depending on location.

Is it any better on ramularia than ctl, I’m not convinced

I agree but now CTL has become a distant memory it's the best(albeit not much good) we've got. If CTL was still about revystar wouldn't even be thought about for ramularia control.

Is it even worth bothering with it, the pounds spent versus control doesn't look very good,

The response to fungicides in spring barley is quite inconsistent. The loss of CTL for ramularia control has changed the game a bit.

Be aware that the recommended doses of some of the triazole + SDHI products are just matching the cost of the competition!

Prothio is losing it's efficacy with repeated use, as expected with any single site fungicide. We keep needing new actives just to stand still in terms of disease control.

It seems rather daft and a bit scary when you look at the fungicide chart and see just how many are heavily relient on prothio but I suppose that's what they want now it's off patent is It to become use less very quickly so we have to move into the new stuff.

Can’t disagree with that although in the case of ramularia I think they will only do it through breeding

Revystar is good on other barley diseases and gives an opportunity to avoid a prothio application. Not sure on the ramularia bit, it has reasonable activity but not at the doses appropriate for spring barley. Unfortunately this catchy weather is ideal for the disease.

Oh yes, then there's Folpet but I'm not going there.
