What do you mean by normal? 1.55 N? Normal for me was 1.85 for brewing and export.
1.85
Only grown spring malting barley for 4 years. First 2 I used 125kg N and got over 1.85N. last 2 I used 155 kg N and got 2.0-2.15 %N. That contract has now ceased thanks to Diagio preferring to get their malt from Scandinavia, so I am back trying to get as low N as possible.
I usually grow good milling wheat, but my farm also likes to put N into barley.

The loss of the Fairing job just shows the reality of the job. Just got to work out now what I cannot drink as the brand is owned by Diageo, to add to my non Chinese policy - which seems doomed to fail!!!!

I think I will be at 60kg all down the spout and leave it at that. Last year tried 70 down spout and left compared to 30 down spout and 80 on top a day or two after drilling and there was zero difference but lack of rain may have affected that

Drill into stubble in April at 200 to 250kg. Digestate on. Wait and see if it grows. Blw spray and some pgr. Head and shoulders spray. Combine. Patch any wild oats.
