What do you all think about the prospects for malting premium, given that it will be filling half the barns in the country by September? I wouldn't give high chances for reasonable premiums.
Most of it grown on contract so not really concerned. £20/t above nov wheat futures.

Will be a lot of Planet sown which they don't take for malting up here.

You've no spring barley in the ground yet, neither do we. The weather in next few months will have a big bearing on tons meeting spec.

I'm not concerned at all about tons of malting barley you guys are going to try to grow affecting malting premiums.

Harlow Ag were offering £20/t over feed barley for new crop 1.85 N Planet today, though that's £10 under feed wheat.

Think it was very much local variation. We had no problems with germination, but it did skin a bit. It was still our best payer.
Skinned here too. Was on a contract for "not less than" £175 with 8% skinning limit before deductions , so they made it 9+% and kicked me onto a £130 contract without even telling me . Contract said load by load deductions would be applied but that shower are clearly a law to themselves , so they won't be back on the place. All trust lost with that rep now .

Another company I had a contract with for malting barley found 2 loads skinned. Applied a few quid deduction to contract price , so I'll sign up with them this year .

The rest can be dried for feed
