Trouble is if you wait too long the fitter stuff will be on the floor.

That’s what I’m thinking . A neighbour has combined all his greener than that that and crimped it.Trouble is if you wait too long the fitter stuff will be on the floor.
Not too bad. Nothing like 2018. The lightest parts of fields that were worst affected by dry weather has some second growth.Have you got much second growth come up?

We don’t use it, so not unless there’s a market for it. Neighbour feeds his to black and white bulls he fattens .Are you set up for crimp?
Could it be stuff that just lay in the drought then germinated late?
It's not a silly idea, I did mine end of last week. Got all the ripe grain and the green ones and no heads on the floor! That’s what I’m thinking . A neighbour has combined all his greener than that that and crimped it.
I think you might be right. What about the straw. Did you have to spread it out afterwards and make it like hayIt's not a silly idea, I did mine end of last week. Got all the ripe grain and the green ones and no heads on the floor!View attachment 898954View attachment 898955View attachment 898957
No, I baled it yesterday in the combine dram 4 days after combining it. 4and a half bales an acre which is reasonable on any year. We had a beautiful day yesterday mind, after a dodgy weekend with light showers and drizzle.I think you might be right. What about the straw. Think I will have to bite the bullet and spray mine , as not sure where I’d sell crimped grain .No, I baled it yesterday in the combine dram 4 days after combining it. 4and a half bales an acre which is reasonable on any year. I don't have a 40 footer though....
No, it's an easier decision when you've got 300 Bullock's to feed.Think I will have to bite the bullet and spray mine , as not sure where I’d sell crimped grain .
