I’m no expert/agronomist but shouldn’t spring barley of had all its N by now? We usually get its second lot on as soon as the rows/tramlines are visible. With the it only going in late this year I put 80% in the seedbed, usually I do an 50/50 split.
Our early may sown spring barley was already well met in the rows when I left last Friday.

What rate of fert is everyone putting on spring barley
100 kg/ha N on Laureate for distilling spec (1.55 N), sown mid to late April. Applied early post emergence.

I‘d be applying more if it was feed, some in the seedbed then the rest by the end of tillering.
