So after the wettest autumn in 100 years for many, slug and pigeon ravaged crops plentiful around the UK what are your plans for the spring on areas still to be drilled or even re drilled ?

All winter wheat area now going for spring wheat.
All winter beans destined for spring beans.

After the dismal harvest of last year, and this random season coming forward I'll be glad to start drilling winter crops this Autumn and get back to some sense of normality. Hard to measure yield increases when the weather ruins one harvest and then affects the season following.

2012/13 will certainly be years to forget for most !

My plan is to plant WW up to end of feb if the conditions come right. failing that Linseed and Beans will be the replacment crop alongside an acreage of spring oats that was planned anyway

Spring Wheat, Spring OSR and possibly some spring oats - just to reduce the area of spring rape.. I would like to have grown some spring beans, but I do not think our soils will be in a good enough state to grow a half decent crop...

spring wheat
spring beans (40t seed in shed)

if getting beans in on 60% clay doesn't become realistic by mid april i will drill them as a cover in may and drill wheat into the green cover in September.
