Considering how little rain we have had, I am quite pleased with my Spring Barley. Odd very poor patch where I had to level up on one field after roots and the odd poor emergence on some snotty stuff but on the hole not bad and a very low spend so far

Which is which - min till / strip till
What do you mean by min till ?
neighbour field in the left side had been used 2 pass with kockerling allraunder, drilled with Kockerling ultima. Huge loss of moisture perform in wery poor crop development. In the right side is strip till 3. year, before that no plough since 2012... wery good soil structure, if You will see carefuly , in my side of field isnt wet patche place, while in neighbour field is still problem with it.... it tells a lot

Oh dear. However you are pleased with the winter cereals and spring barley which don’t look that great here so there’s a limit to my sympathy. Pretty much missed rain here again :(

They are struggling on the heavier bits -

Worse near dykes and near wheelings/headlands.

Seem fine in the black so far.

We only seem to get a tantalisingly small amount of rain. Crops are just about surviving though not prospering. Burning off a bit on higher sandy areas.

I'm glad I didn't plough anything this year. A surprising amount of moisture still to be found underneath. Ironically the ground was so wet at drilling that I couldn't plough it. Scratching the top and drilling into it and letting the roots go down to find the moisture has worked well. If it had carried on raining it wouldn't have been so good.
