gonna start spring drilling this week hopefully, gonna be drilling into to cover crop residue that was sprayed of round about Christmas time(radishes, oats, phalciea n a bit clover) plus drilling some on the green.
would it pay to apply some slug pellets at drilling time, cash crops are gonna be beans, barley and oats just not sure if the crop would get up and a way quickly enough to escape any slug pressure. TIIA

we found some slug eggs under bits of a chaff that were poorly distributed by the combine, we were thinking that the claydon would take some of these eggs out , might pay to put a couple bait traps out to see what happens before we drill, don't really want to use slug pellets if it can be avoided.

Have seen v little slug activity in s Barley on heavy ex wheat land so far. A chance to save money!
A good roll would be better at the moment IMO.

I saw some slugs after we first drilled. Did a few test bits of pelleting but largely the pellets remain uneaten. Drilled two years ago near the end of April in the dry. Thought there was no way that slugs would be a problem, but they still did quite a bit of damage.

I've had to go out and put 5kgs on some DD sp.barley into a January dessicated cover crop which was being badly stripped. I put pellets down with the seed too....worst thing is that it is a sandy loam, the lightest land on the farm where we never normally see slug problems. Some of the heavy land has slight grazing, but it growing away from it. Weird it's worse on light land
