Spring grass seed

Got 30acres it that was destined for turnips April drilled to fatten lambs August onwards.
Thinking more about going for grass as it might have a cut before lambs go into it.
What's the best thing to plant?

Sow Westerwolds Ryegrass at around 15kg/ac (37kg/ha) as a pure stand.

Or a mix of Italian Ryegrass and Westerwolds?

You could be cutting at 10-12 weeks.

Please bear in mind both Westerwolds & IRG are very responsive to high fertiliser inputs which in turn leads to larger yields.

I'm just putting the finishing touches on a deal for one of the top-performing Westerwolds so please get in touch if you require a price. ;)

Not ProtoPlus? Be ideal in the OP's situation wouldn't it?

Going back to the Westerwolds/IRG suggestion the addition of Avalon a leafy turnip will help lift the overall ME and Crude Protein.

Leafy Turnip can be grazed after just 6-8 weeks so a light first graze with re-growth possible for the second grazing. Avalon also has a very high dry matter yield.
