Yes I am ,and no not yet. I am going to wait at least another week (I drilled last year on the 10th April and yield was 0.95 tonne/acre.)

Never again! Yields here varied from 1.2 t/ac to 0.3 t/ac where the soil capped after drilling. It followed a failed winter osr crop.

It needs to go into warm soils to be up & away instantly.

Drillied some last year at end of May - no spray just a bit of N and it did 1.25t/ac which last year was better than my very expensive to grow winter OSR !

It needs to go into warn soil

True, but the other risk with drilling late is lack of moisture which is why spring cropping can be poor in dry seasons. I remember them - they weren't that long ago!

Will never grow it again, terrible weed. Keeps coming for years as volunteers, much worse than winter rape for some reason. Grew it 3 times tho and yielded 1.25/1.5 and 1.8 ton per acre so payed well with little cost.

I am trying a couple of hectares this year as a trial. It is almost unheard of in this area, the local coop think I am mad. The seed I managed to get hold off was for an old variety (Olindigo) and I had to pay 400 euros for 25 Kg of seed.

It went in last week and has had 15 mm of rain since so should be up soon.

One field gone in ahead of promised rain over next few days. Now rain only a bit of drizzle! If it grows it may get sprayed out anyway if BG appears - zero tolerance on that field. I would rather have something growing than leave fallow again.

Not this year, I don't dislike it as a crop just needs wet and warm and we only got about 11mm of rain in April/may last year so it didn't really get going

Ours is a complete disaster. It sat.for too long in the dry and then the slugs hammered it in the wet. Then the agronomist forgot it. The best bit is the trails plot.

I drilled a small area of Heros on 24th April into a failed WOSR area. Weather and ground conditions at the time seemed good and it rained the following day. Was a bit slow to emerge and then sat at about 2-4 leaves for weeks and weeks. In the last 2-3 weeks it seems to have moved a bit. Stem extension seems to be starting now, but still looks very poor.
The edge of field appears to look better, so I don't know if this is related to less residues from the previous crop treatments?

Trials not too bad @mo! was there this week and gave it some insecticide as pollen beetles were abundant luckily I only need 2kg sample on Monday then need 0.5kg seed at harvest so fingers crossed I manage that!! I did give mine some slug pellets after it came out maybe that's what has helped mine! it all looked fine when it came up, but it's the same as mine at home so much redshank its unbelievable did a lot of rogueing at home! Whilst there gave it a dose of N as well with my mini fert spreader!! A healthy dose shall we say!! And hey its all good you still helped me out need to get your payment sorted you around on Monday??
