Spring tine seeder harrows on stubbles

Would spring tine harrows like an einbock or opico sow stubble turnips into stubbles or would they block up with trash?
I've tried. My einbock blocks up with straw all the time. That's straw baled. You need to have the pressure off so much its hardly applying any pressure. Have power harrowed stubbles too, to get some tilth first then went on with einbock and still blocks.

Bought a machine specifically for sowing stubble turnips into stubbles a few weeks ago.

We run a set of discs through first then run a grass seeder like a opico through afterwards. Works well for us. But unless you had good conditions im not sure they would create enough tilth on their own straight into a stubble. But then some may have had success that way.

Looks good. Only problem for me is I don’t think I have a tractor big enough. It’s a fait lump it looks. What do you run it on?

Previous owner had it on a 6930. Have been tearing up Some bits with our t7 190 at home and its managing it fine. Can take the st bar at front off and just use as 3m shortdisc and press. Have replaced all discs and fitted a following harrow to cover seed.

Anybody ever tried using a stubble rake?

They should work.

Yes. Seen this done. Spin or blow the seed at the front. Still worth chasing with the rolls afterwards.

Comb type weeders just block up as the stubble is too loose. You need to bale the straw and use a heavy cultivator to mix the stubble in. Can be quite rough on stronger soils and you sacrifice soil moisture with the extra pass.

Back to plan A then and find some form of direct drill

Volunteers are a problem if theres Iaid areas or hefty amounts out the the back of the ' bine ......ploughing gets alot of them corn grains down out of the way, so they dont smother the brassicas.(y)
Else it's a waste of seed.
Then roll and use yer grass harrows...dont need 200hp or an 8t prime mover either

Normally a quick run with the powerharrow over the stubble then either mix ST seed in with fert in spreader and roll or chuck the ST on with accord air drill then roll

I was looking for a erth or sms or moore type drill but cant find anything

When you put it on with the fert spinner do you run a set of harrows or anything over it before rolling? Or just roll it in? Does that give the seed enough soil covering?

If it's for large acres how about a time drill with very wide spacing ie maybe even .5 m apart ? , that would be less disturbance and give the fence kind somewhere to go easier.
6m would cover some ground fairly quick

If it's a mop up job would need fert but if it did a top dress with a bit of n before the drill .
