:bag: is there any such thing as up-rated springs available for the tines on these yokes?, they seem to last no time, it got an over-haul last summer and all new springs as part of it because we were fed up with tines dragging and what seemed like a never ending cycle of replacing one or two at a time. After a year I'd say 70-80% of them have failed, and they all look like they have been there for 10years they are that badly rusted.
I am pretty sure I have memories of stopping the machine in years gone by and the clatter of the tines snapping up out of work as it slowed... I miss that sound!! :ROFLMAO: Me father reckons they are much easier to change/weaker that they used to be too. They all seem to break at the same place mind you, so if there are no alternatives we were thinking of trying to heat the bend where the hook into the holder to see if that was less brittle would they last any longer??...

Just what I wanted to hear! Changed all mine this year for same reasons as you and what a horribly painful fiddly long old job that was!

Always been a crap idea imo....our lely hayzip which is basically a haybob copy, functions just as well with no springs, the tines simply hang down loose, rare we break any either. Admittedly the tines have curved ends, so wont stick in the ground if you happen to be moving with the rotors not going

benefit of having no springs is you can run the rotors much slower when rowing up, as you have to run them fast enough to make the tines swing out

your last point is valid alright, we did notice we could run lower revs for rowing up last week as most of the tines where already in the working position!
we do all our running about on narrow roads though and it adds another foot to the bloody thing with all the tines hanging out, just waiting for it to catch the hedge while meeting a car and it kicking out (n) Not to mention some steep narrow gates and limited lift clearance on the MF148 which resulted in two bent tines last week

I've seen various different grades of springs and the bare metal ones seem the thinest and weakest I got coated metal springs o e and the were a good bit stronger so I'd say check what different suppliers have. Normally a broken spring g is a bent tine.
