Can anyone recommend a decent, chunky square for the workshop. Most of them are too small to use on heavy walled box due to the roll on the corners and the small size of the square.

I bought a nice big aluminium framing square from Screwfix once, just the job I thought .....when I got it home, it took all of 30 seconds to realise it wasn't square!...I took it back, the guy got me another one off the shelf, and I showed him and all the customers in the store that that wasn't square either!
When I asked him what was the point of selling a square that wasn't square?...he was very confused:confused:...:ROFLMAO:

At the risk of wandering... I was in a competitor of the above named store and looked at big spirit levels, I had to try 5 from the same batch to find one that said the racking in the store was upright.

To answer OP, use your little square to fabricate a bigger square our of angle iron, you can even cut the corner out to allow welding there, the angle is perfect to g-clamp the metal when fabricating too.

Perhaps the racking wasn't plumb and you got a duff one....:cautious:
