Anybody know if Squire Ultra herbicide will kill dandelions? Bit of an infestation here in grass but don't want to wipe out the bit of white clover too. The label only says docks and some broadleaved weeds. It doesn't specify which weeds.

They'll be gone in a fortnight

Killing broad leafed weeds and not the clover is always going to be tricky. A Triad/Spruce mix might give better results.

I’m not sure you can still get those, I know I couldn’t last year. Was about the only halfway effective clover safe herbicide on reseeds. :(

If you can, I suspect Spruce alone would kill dandelions. They don’t take much. They’d have to be pretty bad before I’d bother though.

You would think so too , with the emphasis nowadays on reduced N use and more clover in sward that there would be plenty of options by now 🤔

You would think so, but EU rules regarding re-registration and alternative comparisons are what did for triad, cimmaron etc. It has become too costly to bother trying to get these things approved.

The industry should have access to:

Triad
Pinnacle
Squire ultra
Spruce
Cimmaron
Tropotox/legumeX

All at the very least.

It's the same story in the pea and bean world mind, they do away with simazine/cyanazine and some of the key fungicides and then wonder why no one grows them and the bees are missing out.

Probably get the same ecology degree brain-boxes in Defra wondering why farmers don't grow more legumes: 'wouldn't need nitrogen or to kill orang-utans if everyone grew legumes'.

I had heard that Triad might be going a while ago. It has been a while since I used that combination where I wanted to protect clover.
