Has anyone got/used a Musso as a farm vehicle? A lot cheeper than any other pickup , but is there a real reason for this? Especially interested in how they tow a full stock box

B i l has bought one, the log book came with 2700kg towing weight. The log book has gone back with a warning that the pickup will follow it if the new weight isn't 3500kg.
There are a lot of log books going back.

Apparently the rights were bought after Ssangyong went bust in1995 by An Iranian company but lately they are made in Russia.
No idea if they have any connection to the original Korean Mercedes tie up.
I think I would not want to have a warranty claim on one

The problem of DVLA not giving correct tow weights is not restricted to these. My X3 log book went back twice.

Are you looking at the old musso car/4x4 or the new double cab?

Ssangyong were bought by daewoo and sold as daewoo in Europe until daewoo folded daewoo liscenced a lot of tech and designs for manufacture in Korea the current range are still Korean built a subsidiary of Mahindra I think

Qyite a ssangyongs on the road now though and seem popular as taxis which i always think is a good sighn

If after cheap pickup the new ldv is sue over here soon and looks a little more pickup like

I have no real-world experience whatsoever, apart from having my eyes melt when I see one on the road. SsangYong, purveyors of the fuggliest vehicles of the 21st century.

Although I dislike the new Musso pickup... I do somewhat disagree with you

I think that looks pretty good (the new Rexton - 2.2 diesel with Merc auto 'box and 3,500kg tow capacity).

I ran a Korando & Musso (both early Sprinter engines)for eight years & literally the only trouble I had with the Korean bits was the handbrake which would never work well when pointing uphill, (but was fine downhill!).
The Mercedes bits however :banghead::- two head gaskets, broken variator on the injection pump, resulting in a snapped timing chain & terminal engine damage. Then with the replacement engine, on which I had rebuilt the head with a reskim & shimmed pre chambers etc etc, repaid me a year later by pushing no3 rod through the side of the block.

The merc bits were only licence built copies! We had many through the garage I worked in, and head problems were common, we had to take the head off before ordering any parts, so we knew which type we had, engine numbers meant nothing. Had a Kango sieze its low mileage engine in Exeter, and then put a rod out of the (dealer fitted) replacement on the way back!
