Ssangyong musso

They were on their knees. Fact. They no longer are. Fact.
The future? Who knows? They are probably now as safe as any other.

There are even dire predictions for the giant Toyota's future, but I wouldn't think that such a massively cash-rich company could get into difficulty within at least two decades but their lack of investment in electric cars and their lobbying against them has fuelled the predictions of looming issues.
Hydrogen instead?

Any reviews on how the musso is holding up since they bought it?

Starting to look at changing pickup and there are some second hand ones out there that look very competitive on price.

Owned mine for around a year. Very pleased with it. Good spec for the money. 28-32 normal mpg, 14 on the cattle float. Ok off road, but no diff lock which holds it back sometimes. Over all very happy and would gladly have another.

Has your got a low ratio box? If so, do you find it actually of any use? My Ranger's low box is little different to High!!

The Musso's do seem to be thirsty, I was looking at a nice low miler, but your MPG when towing, is scarey!

pleased with mine (10 months ) tows great and mpg 30 plus when towing and about 35 ish without.. comfy , good spec for the price , some have commented they sit a bit low and the fuel tank is low also so maybe a issue for real bad tracks etc , but thats not what i do with it , so for me its a good truck and pleased with it :) :) (y) (y)

That low slung habit is a worry... I look at a couple of the tracks we use and think....... No! Impressive fuel MPG mind..

If I was pure trailer work, I'd have one last week!

I was chatting with an owner a fortnight ago who loved her's to bits, but grass fields or tarmac only, with a big IW trailer.

Uncle has one , highly rates it and that’s after owning a Hilux . I’ve driven it and it drives very well. Nice feature is that the cill forms part of the doors - no more mud on trousers…
As someone else mentioned , 7year 150k mile warranty not to be sniffed at and manufacturer clearly confident in the product.
The ubiquitous Jap manufacturers should watch out , the Koreans make quality products these days - just look how Hyundai and Kia are taking the EV car market by storm.
As for residuals , it’s all relative IMO and if the warranty is transferable that will make a compelling argument for secondhand purchase .

Look at eBay or Autotrader. Strong money for 2nd hand.

Yes, it is geared low, however without a diff lock I think it’s kind of pointless as it starts to spin easily. I’ve Pirelli scorpions on it so not particularly off roady tyres.

28-32 normal driving I’m pleased with - kicks the arse out if uncles hilux!

if towing flat trailer, then 24 achievable

I've seen two 17 platers which run the same engine and gearboxes as the 2018 onwards model I think.

One is a auto and the other a manual. Never driven an auto is it a better bet than the manual or should i stick to the manual.

Thank you for all the feedback.

if you want 3.5t towing you have to have the auto , its a jap box and i like it ,its the first time i had one and i get on well with it the only other one i have driven is mates B class and its much better than that .... the latest one has had a tweek and is bit more hp , but dont think it was needed i tow at 3.5t and is plenty boss of the job (y)

I mentioned them to someone a few years ago and he scoffed the second hand value of them was nothing compared to the other brands. The newer models seem to be keeping a lot more value than the older styles though, but that's just where the used car market is these days anyway. I ain't going to be paying more for a 30k miles 3 year old Ford Ranger than what it cost new but seemed that's almost what people were wanting for them last time I looked.
