SSSI Spring Barley herbicides

Location
Wales
Hi folks, just been granted consent to plant some spring barley on SSSI. Unfortunately they have refused consent to let me use Ally Max as a herbicide as they deem it toxic to bugs etc. They have asked me to submit application for consent for alternatives. Thought the collective brains on here could come up with a few suggestions. Thanks

Maybe take your example from mid tier css?

AB14: Harvested low input cereal
The following herbicide active ingredients can be used.

  • Amidosulfuron
  • Clodinafop-propargyl
  • Fenoxaprop-P-ethyl
  • Pinoxaden
  • Tri-allate
Wont cover all weeds spp . Maybe they will allow a contact hormone aswell?

The lady has no idea, she just says suggest an alternative. Initially she asked me to take out mircam plus and I said fair enough I’ll just use ally max or equivalent on its own. Next thing she sends out consent but with refusal of both 🤦🏻‍♂️. She wants something that’s not toxic to wetlands 🤷🏻‍♂️

Think she looks at the labels and if there are any warnings regarding toxicity/aquatic wildlife then its a no go. Looks like it may be wholecrop cereals, weeds and all 😬

maybe she doesnt like the "very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects" warning on the lables.
MCPA and mecoprop-P dont have this warning.

you are probably going to have to consult a paid agronomist, get them to check through thier database for products

Just remembered same person gave me permission ti use MCPA in rushes about 6 years ago. Surely if it was ok back then it’ll be ok now? Also seen environment document somewhere saying 2,4 D is ok near watercourses.
