Stacking silage/haylage bales

Always stacked our dry haylage bales three high (conventionally in a pyramid, not as baked bean cans). Bottom bales don't seem to flatten much, but was considering going to four layers. How many layers do people safely stack without problems if the bales are solid dryish haylage? Bales are wrapped with six layers of film.

Yes if they split and stacked right they should stand the cost on wrap we used anyway contractor I worked for had quite a few that split one year they came out and looked at stack then payed or credited on next years wrap

Seems like three high generally is the limit then? Not worth risking a lot of damaged lower bales at £30 a time, though may try just a few at four high to see if it might work.

yes you complain, they say feck off
Actually, I complained about silotite stuff a couple of years ago. A bod came out, measured balewrap overlap, pointed out a missing spring on the wrapper which meant pre stretch was at a minimum, and a slight (I hadn't noticed before) bend in the angle of the wrap holder that was causing an uneven overlap......

All very useful info and improved wrapping and consequently bale quality after I fixed the wrapper......

Then he told me to fek off :D
