Many years ago all us one man bands in the area decided we wanted a self employed staff party. We called it the jolly boys night and 25 years later its still going?

I did my college sandwich year (heading towards 30 years ago :() on a farm not far from Milton Keynes. All the wives & girlfriends had been having ‘office Christmas parties’ for years, so all the local farmers had decided to do the same. I’ve no idea if the tradition is still going, but it was certainly a get together that had a reputation in those days. It started with a boozy pub lunch and finished, several pubs later, when the last one fell over/pubs refused to serve any later as the lock in was getting daft. :D

Sounds similar to ours.
Start at the Auctioneer at H and H for lunch, taxi into the beating metropolis that is Carlisle for the afternoon and end up at the Shaha Indian at night. Lots of drink and talking bullocks is the order of the day?

Tea and a bun in a cafe in town with the family business partners yesterday after visiting the accountant. Felt a bit like the losing team on "The Apprentice" in the bridge cafe. I'd spent too much on machinery .... again. But at least it was a change from paddling about in mud.

Proper party will be Christmas dinner here cooked by myself and the Mrs.
Busier than a days work but enjoyable all the same.

Do you treat your staff to a Christmas pig out?

We have 14 attending tonight ... no idea how we have accumulated so many but it’s a small enough thank you for all their help over the year without which we wouldn’t function

Probably should but who would milk in the morning? Everyone here likes to go hard on the pee when they can so I’m less inclined to give them the opportunity.

There have been some legendary parties here in the past and everyone struggling in the morning.

I’ll probably settle with a healthy gift card paid by myself. They would likely enjoy that more and give them some cash before the actual holiday.

14 people? Who manages all them?

Milking happened this morning but how accurate it was is anyone’s guess!

Party was a mix of family, full time and reliefs . Just a meal then the hard core went out on the crawl. Might not see some of them again ....
Saw this pic and thought your place might look the same this morning...

Last Christmas party I went to was on a Thursday night and we were told if you didn't turn up on Friday then pay would be docked.
Roll on Friday morning, apart from yours truely only the Irish office girl was sober and lucky if half the staff turned up.
As for the guy who said not at work on Friday then no pay, he turned up at the Chistmas party, got plastered in 30 minutes, told the boss that he was a tool, then got into an argument with his girl friend/fiancee , they left early as they were staying at her parents, he gets out of their taxi only to crawl to the front door and up the stairs to bed, allegedly.
Think he turned up at work the following Monday....?
