There's a job advertised on FB this morning putting 600 through a 24:48. 25 rows is quite a milking even if there were 2 in the pit.

Does the back milker have to push every single cow in and the front milker push every cow out?

Not flash, maybe not awful if the place wasn't a sh*t hole and you milked then went home until afternoon milking with no other duties and got an ok wage.
What are the chances of that though?

Relief milkers tend to like places with long milkings because it means more £££.

Seems you can't please everyone!

Must be a minimum amount a relief will come for? £30? Hourly rate doesn't really matter for milking does it?

Gelli Aur college have two 20/40 parlours shoe horned into the space occupied by the former fast exit parlour, 500 cows.

I'd be interested to see how much quicker 2 X 20:40 would be than a 40:80.

The advantage of the longer pit is you can manage with one less competent person where as in a twin pit system you need two decent people.

In the case quoted they couldn't go longer because other things in the way eg a road.
