Thanks Mark
Have his number so will give him a call. Friend of Dad's has a Trimble(?) EZ 500 I think he said, so am hoping to have a look at his to see if it will fit the bill and see what cost is, if not then blobber for spraying maybe better.
Secondhand 500 and ez steer would do a good job of steering, not sure if it could do section control in future thpugh. If there is one thing I would advise it would be don't buy cheap for the sake of it, and you will certainly extend your gps equipment in future so try to go for something that will be future proof as far as possible.

What's the worst conversation you have with a customer @Robt.? The one where you tell them the kit they bought 2 years ago is no good for what they want now?

In practice, you do not stare at the lightbar, you concentrate on a reference point in the far hedge, assuming you can see it, as you turn much like you would do the old way, and look past the lightbar which ideally is placed in your line of vision on the windscreen.
All you are then doing is correcting your line slightly, in response to the couple of lights either side of centre which tell you the moment you start to wander.
Key is setting up a straight A/B line to the best boundary and not trying to follow the thing round a curve, that is lots more difficult and faults compound themselves.

My (not bad!) effort with a light bar, shame it's about 2mts from where tramline needed to be.

Sprayed with a trimble ag132 lightbar for years. Still use it tractors for lime/fert. As said get lights right pick point in distance. Works fine.
