Thanks. It looks like @john432 is already on the case so happy to leave him too it cause I know nothing about listers and surprised iskra/mahle even list a starter for one let alone several types!

The mahle Letrika catalogue seem to cover a vast range of applications, first thing @Large needs to do is remove the old starter (if one is fitted) and look for and ID numbers etc, failing that , the list above basically shows 2 or 3 bolt fixing , and a choice of either 12 or 24 volt motors, and different power ratings. ,Or given the exact engine model details from the plate , then a bit of cross referencing would probably source the correct starter.

Hi John, Many thanks, If there was a starter allready fitted it would be very easy, but just the hole where one should fit.

Presumably you've checked if there is a ring gear on the flywheel? I've a single cyl Lister with a hole for a starter but there was never a ring gear fitted. If yours has one, you'll also need to check the direction of rotation. Some ran clockwise, some ran anti-clockwise.

Hi, There is a ring gear on the flywheel. The flywheel turns clockwise. There are three mounting studs, not symetrical. two centres at 4 inches, the other 5 7/8"
