Hey. So I’ve just got a start up loan for a business to get into farming I’ve got a loan of £10,000 would that be enough to get started I know the cost of land and so on but I’m looking at contracting like horse haddock’s, land clearing/ grading, livestock services and so on I’ve had plenty of experience on farms but thought I’d take the step into my own farming world any information or help on where to start or if I need more of a loan to start I work 2 jobs so paying back isn’t a issue thank you

You need to make it clearer what you want to do, you clearly can't farm.much bar rent a bit of land , so your choice seems to be offer your labour , or by a cheap tractor and a few cheap machines. It surprising what you can find for not a lot of money

my advice - don’t grow or rear anything

sell to and buy from those daft enough to do that actually hard work and barely profitable at best bit !

study this graph for “why”

Facebook market place is full of cheap tractors and implements but I was thinking of starting small contract jobs and advertising but what would be recommended field wise it falls between 12,000 to 15,000 an acre don’t know how true that is tho

This has got click bait and get posts up written all over it….
Someone has a 10k loan but the Buisness plan hasn’t been approved yet so wondering what everyone else thinks but wants to go contracting which is inherently high cost to get in to with a relative low ROI.

let’s sit back and watch the fireworks.

Bit confused in the first post you say,”I’ve got a loan of £10,000.
In the post above you say , “………just waiting for approval”:scratchhead:

It’s cheap for a reason…

I agree, do you have £10k in your bank yet or not?

I’d suggest 10k wouldn’t touch the sides if you want to go contracting, best return on investment is generally labour only starting off so I’d not bother with the loan and go contract milking/relief or lambing etc. all you need for that is the shirt on your back and a car to get from A to B

So you’ll have £20k cash in your hand. What have you put as your plan for the money in your business plan?
Well currently looking at some grassland and some implements tractor and so on but grassland on its own wouldn’t be profitable by its self but thought my business plan has selling services in like horse haddock’s field maintenance, live stock and so on but before I do anything I’m trying to be led in a direction of being able to make a profit so I can eventually expand in 2 years or so
