State of the roads

Loss of the parish lengths man who used to keep on top of drains and ditches, trimming bit etc. wouldn’t of helped things.

We’ve a part of road that’s a back road but of a rat run so gets used fair bit. And when ever there’s lots of rain a bit for 50 yards floods, fine in my disco but our combo work van it effects the clutch used to be solid next morning even tho it’s parked in the dry, but recently old mans had it where he can’t change out of gear on the journey home!

Feel like digging out the hedge, field is well below the road.

So yes the roads are in a state pot holes soon get washed/worn out...

Roads are the responsibility of Bath & North East Somerset Council where I live. In the Bath part they drive on the left hand side of the road. Us poor relations in the rural parts that make up the North East Somerset element, we drive on what is left of the road because of poor maintenance.

Some of the little back roads near me are turning into an assault course,,they were never designed to take the volume of traffic that uses them and certainly not the size of the farm machinery that hammers them .
Small village roads are now handling heavy construction traffic and Ag trailers often cut up the verges to avoid head on collisions with buses and brainless car drivers that seem the think they need all the road

That’s a pic of a lay-by on way to our other farm 13 heaps of new tarmac been dumped, such a waste when a mile either side of that lay-by there are plenty holes that could’ve been filled with it, ironically there is a sign saying no fly tipping just to the side [emoji849]

MESS
Try coming down the rhyd then kev, after having over a thousand tonne a day going down the road to the Newtown by pass for months on end it's one hell of a mess, up to 20 wagons doing 4/5 loads each a day on an unclassified single track road has taken its toll, then the useless t,wat's from the council turn up with a trannie pick up, shovel and a waker plate to fill the pot holes in over xmas when there was snow.

The road here flooded badly, taking the surface off. A gang of workmen appeared one day and started clearing the entrances to the gullys - two blocks with a large slab lid - which is fine, apart from the fact they shovelled the muck into little heaps either side of the drain so the water could not find the gully....:banghead: The road was really flooded then! It is shut at the moment with a big sign saying so at the end of the road. 5 cars today turned round in my yard, two lorries and a tractor and trailer yesterday, people who think the sign does not apply to them!
