as it’s important to show the good and the bad, this is quite an extreme example of blackgrass straight behind the combine in some second wheat. Quite a poor bit of soil and usually does have blackgrass. The crop in the wheelings is perhaps slightly thinner than the crop inbetween but no way near enough to let this much BG grow!
At least its easy to spot where to rouge!

Our worst patch of black grass has spread after a crop of potatoes last year.

Knapsack it or are too many seeds viable?

tbh if thats all of it, you and a mate should be able to pull that in a day with ease. It will feel like its taking ages, but youve a good month to six weeks to get it done.

Otherwise, knapsack, wait a week, then top.

Birds start going off for slaughter next Tuesday, so no time or spare energy for rogueing for the next 5 weeks. Knapsack it is.

Been roguing today and have doubled the time for each field. Rather the a few nice clumps the cracked ground and that one big rain back in April seems to have made each ear from a single bloody seed. One tiller. No real root. It's day one proper and I've come in for a drink and my arms look like they've been sandpapered. Waiting for the histamines to get used to it.

Wheat all looks fair tbh but will need a couple more drinks yet to reach reasonable potential ,
Winter Barley looks good as does spring barley
winter beans also look well but Downy Mildew moved in 10 days ago , just hoping it dries up
