Propino s barley coming off ok ish , nothing to right home about with grain quality a bit pinched and bracking bad , straw is only just fit . Glad it will be all in the shed before another heavy rain gets on it or we would be in complete salvage mode .

just over 1/2 way through 30 acre of osr when a heavy shower put a stop to the fun , was coming offdry and feels like its yielding well, no split seed,s no white pods, not loosing as combine working either header or behind , but the concern is the amount of beetles in the seed so have spread it out and will put some fans in to to get them to leave and hoping we can finish the crop tommorrow though am now not so sure sowing a tranch with all the beetles about is such a good idea

I often get loads of beetles, some years the trailers are black with them, I don't worry about it now.

do they leave of their own accord as was going to move it as soon as all in shed ,dont think they will harm the seed but dont want any claim/rejection. I could put it in blow bins and make life uncomfortable for them if that would help,

Had a nibble at some Sept drilled firefly . Did a trailer load but after going through the combine it was 19.4%, so not fit really. Then it rained hard for 29 mins , so combine back under the shed . Looked a better sample than I feared the other day .

missed this reply( sorry bit late now) but having rubbed a few ears out tonight crop here is not showing any sign of disease in the ear as every grain site full and plenty of full grains/ear,throughout the growing seaon has not needed any fire brigade fungicide , grains /ear and heads/sq m I can say im looking forward to harvesting it but it will be a couple of days later than others by the look of it
Pleased to hear that. Ours was late drilled end of Nov early Dec so was probably at a vulnerable stage when we had some heavy rainfall. Apart from a bit of ear disease it has looked good all the way through, not had any particular septoria problems. We have got it pencilled in for next year subject to a satisfactory result from the combine. Fingers crossed!

Up until 4 weeks ago any brassica cover crop drilled in this area were being mullered by csfb, but they have now stopped feeding, and I guess plants will remain almost untouched until the autumn migration starts in early September.
This is why I have drilled one field this week in the hope it gets away from the sods, weather I bother to drill any more only time will tell. I will drill up to the 20th and then pull the plug.
