Will finish N2 on wheat tomorrow, and N1 on oats, before any pgr or BWS, opposite way to normal, but think it's to cold to spray and don't want to wait 2 weeks before N2.

remember avalon tremendous width of flag leaf was once explained to me as a bank managers wheat looked tremendous on his visit so you got the o/d to get past harvest but didnt yield as well as the others
The year before Avalon come out, there was a similar Variety called Bounty. Another very showy variety. I once took a picture of its Flag leaf more that covering width wise an old (bigger than now) 50p bit!
Avalon was the first variety I ever grew that yielded 4 tons an acre. The milling premium that year was £3/tonne and because the yield was so high, the protein was diluted, it went as feed. I wasn’t going to worry about waiting for the inevitable phone call and a redirection charge.

We did the same, again probably our first 4t wheat, remember it as being very easy to grow, but was spending more time in the cab of a truck than a tractor at the time.

Seen a lot of this happening in the past week brown spots and yellow leaves all over winter barley and winter wheat. Any ideas? Deficiency or disease?

first 4 t for me was mercia the variety that followed avalon but it flattered to deceive as never did it again so dropped 3-4 years later .Over time one of the best varietys was/has been grafton god only knows why we dropped it, of the rest in the between years most have been one hit wonders ,now get on well with gravity looks well this year yielded best last year over gleam and skyscraper which are ok

Grafton is still my favourite wheat have C2 seed for this year and next. I grow mainly that and Kerrin, I think Kerrin just beat it last year but still prefer Grafton for ease of growing and consistency.

straw yield was its downfall here though just checked our records and its been a mistake to drop it on average grain yield
