Same here.

22 frosts when it was trying to tiller, five weeks drought through stem extension, 11" of rain in May for a cracking crop of the brome, now another drought at grain fill.

October drillings better than September - later growth stage suited the weather sequence better.

My early November drilled is starting to fall over, 12mm of rain in 24hrs hasn't helped.

Corrected ;)

Similar here too, I have one field which was drilled in really nice conditions the last week of September and it's shite, yet the stuff drilled in October into less than perfect conditions is looking phenomenal.

The thin shite field is now comming poisoned with mayweed, it's by the raid and looks a mess(typical)🤦

Has anyone else found spring SUs to have not worked particularly well???? I used Thor on the field mentioned above and it killed the groundsel and some mayweed but the rest just went yellow and then seemed to recover.

Unfortunately, 90% of ours went in really well in September.

Still hoping to break the 4t barrier which we just missed last year.

;)

Digestate Strip 2.JPG

Maize on 10th June
Trial strip had no digestate, whereas the rest of the field did (from farm fed AD plant - maize, rye, FYM, slurry and potatoes).
Everything else the same - fertiliser injected when drilled.

We've also done a trial in another field of digestate only (applied before drilling) and no fertiliser at all. Currently to the eye the digestate only maize looks identical to the rest of the fertilised field. We're doing a leaf test, to get some proper analysis.

Welcome and thanks for posting looks very interesting.

Just an observation but, at a glance it obviously looks like the maize is a lot further on where the digestate has been applied, however looking closely is it not just more weed burden making it look greener?
It is hard to tell properly from that distance though, any closer pictures of the maize with/without to compare the actual plant sizes?

Funny that. Twatted Grounsel (usually difficult) Fat hen now succumbing hopefully (just so slow).

Yes it’s both. Weed & further on. I’ll take a photo when the weather eases up. Don’t fancy a walk in this!

The opposite actually, I had a bit of mix left over (half acres worth) and went to do a pure Fung application as very few weeds at the time, but these few weeds inc Mayweed were all wiped out, so half rate then diluted to 1/25th ie 1/50th rate worked really well.
