Stealing food to solve the food crisis.

On radio 4 this morning (I admit I was a bit sleepy) A government Minister said that with the food crisis, Police should not get involved if people were stealing food.

I would think the exact opposite, should come down really hard on people looting veg/potatoes from fields. Equally those rustling stock, stealing eggs, shop lifting etc. So that food can be distributed through the proper channels.

Whoever said it must retract or resign IMHO.

Saw that , widespread looting this weekend

the minister is obviously stupid enough to think that all those stealing it are hungry and not just out to make a few quid
Exactly & all the waste that goes with looting.

We lost half an acre of potatoes one night during the miners strike. But in reality as much was wasted as taken, seen it in veg too, steal a caulie, oh drop it, there is a better one take that instead. Not to mention allowing dogs to run in the crop.

That Minister must resign today.

So can we have our own security guards and restrain the culprits like supermarkets,or will we be the ones getting arrested for harrasment.

Googled the story as interested. Only reference I found was Kit Malthouse slating a Police Chief Constable who gone a bit 'woke' and told his officers to 'go lightly' on felons! Is there another story then?

Sorry in my defence, I did admit to only half hearing the story, whilst getting dressed & cleaning my teeth.

This assumes the fact that people know that potatoes and veg come from fields, eggs come from chickens, pork from pigs etc. And know how to cook it when they have it. The reality is more likely they will steal it from Sainsbury's or macdonalds.

Hi DA, good to hear back from you. I know the feeling. But as you will see in this thread already from a few posts your misinformation has garnered internal prejudices. So quite a fascinating insiht into social media and inbuit prejudice. I thank you for the incorrect information as this thread and the responses will go toward my Social Sciences Masters! Best wishes,

I remember a famers field near the entrance to a mine 5-6acres of pots all gone or wasted plus post and rail fences and anything else they could burn

My child says he is having a crisis as all his friends have iPhones and he does not. I spend my money on food. If the minister would suggest folk could look the other way while I rob the Carphone Warehouse I'd be very grateful.

If you look up my post more worryingly it is not the minister but our taxpayer paid Police chief who is suggesting thieves are spared. Beginning of the end of civil society. I will mark you essay (5000 words). Please submit by May 31st.

More likely buying rainbow lights to illuminate the cop shop, and doing a week's diversity awareness training.
Believe it or not they have gone one better than that ffs🙄
