My b&b livestock man looses about 20 lambs per year through theft, but last year he thought it would be nearer 50. He,like glasshouse, just accepts it as a business expense. At what point do you no longer accept the losers? When you break even?
the more you accept it the more it will happen, if he had shot the person responsible when they took the first one they wouldn't have taken any more :giggle:

Not quite that simple with outlying flocks on rented ground.:( He’s currently dealing with two separate dog attacks in the last fortnight too. :banghead: Farming on the fringe of a very popular area of open public land is not ideal for farming. Thousands visit on the sunny weekends. Now with the addition of more dogs. Shooting dogs would be tricky with the volumes of people nearby on H&S grounds.

Ball cocks , a car is a luxury item same as a phone .
not necessarily so, When My tractor driver went to visit his sister in the states, I think it was Florida she explained they did not do breakfast and would have to go to the local whatever. She said to take the car, he was a bit shy of driving on the wrong side and said he would sooner walk, He was used to walking miles, She said you can't as there is no footpath, it would be Jaywalking and the police would pick him upo_O

My upbringing taught me that theft is theft, no matter how small, it is wrong. I can say hand on heart that I 've not even walked off with a pen from the bank counter not even before they were chained down.
I do find it hard to come to terms with the idea that some crimes are not as bad as others, no I don't live in a fairy-tale bubble, I just have to keep my morals to myself and move on.
I feel for my boys and how they are going to deal with their feelings when they get to my age.
