steam cleaner

We had a Nixon washer for a year and was nothing but bother! The pump burnt out after a week, then the burner wouldn't turn off due to it not having a thermostat, then the soap pump gave up working and in the end it burnt out, with nobody rushing to save it! Cheap made for the cheap price......

Another vote for a Kew 1502V from me, have had mine since 1991 and used for thousands of hours cleaning tractors, I fitted a new heat exchanger due to lime scale last year and a new temp sender last week, it is an easy machine to fix myself.

3 phase Nixon here a good enough machine but I would not buy another one ! back up is shocking even to get it delivered when new is an ordeal and would have been cancelled but for the fact that I paid upfront. as mentioned previously give matt at landy pressure washers a call they will sort you out promptly and professionally, in my case delivering the machine and setting it up on farm then getting a cheque incidentally they supplied the new motor for my Nixon substantially cheaper than Nixon and I knew I would actually get it

Ive had a Warwick Hot/Cold Washer for easily 18yrs now maybes more & we never use it without the HOT switched on,
The Difference is quite something.
There long since out of Business but they made a half decent machine & it has AUTO Shutoff as standard.
You pull the lance trigger it fires up you release it switches off. SIMPLES.
Wouldn't have another without that now.
1300psi there isn't much it wont clean.
Runs all day on a 13amp 50m ext no bother.
Why has them NIXONS insist on a 16amp feed there's no need.
Has a lot of KRANZLE Pump parts etc on it so most be good gear

Local Dealer rec MAC as a Replacement but there not cheap.

I have recently been given a kew 1502v steam cleaner jet wash . It is like new and does not appear to have had much use. However, when I turn it all on and hook the water up , the pump runs but I don't get no pressure . The boiler also blows but does not for up. I don't necessarily need hot water but want to get it running the way it should . Can anyone point me in the right direction? I live in Norwich . Cheers

The only time I have no or low pressure is when the water filter blocks. Have you checked if yours has a water filter or how far the waters going...??

I manage to get water coming in to the small reservoir that has the float controlled valve. When I pull the trigger on the lance, water comes out the lance but a no pressure . The water pressure gauge shows no pressure . Cheers

I have a single phase Nixon and its great.
there is a need for the 16amp feed, as it stops the motor burning out. due to the simple way the Nixon is designed and built it does not have a automatic pressure release if you stop the motor, so on restarting if you have not manually released the pressure on the trigger it makes hard work for the motor and pulls a lot of current.
it also has no auto shut off which is just another thing to make it more complicated, just a simple mechanical unloader valve.
I have had mine for some time now, 5 years at a guess? and never serviced it or had it fail, those that are burning motors out are simply not using it right.

Agreeded the Nixon does not have fancy electrics and auto this and that, so what if you use it right they are bomb proof.
I'd buy another no quibble, but I would buy the three phase one for more power!

Fix it yourself or what?
If so and it was working before you got it (just lying up) clean the filter on the inlet pipe, should be one between tank and pump? Usually looks like a T piece with the T at an angle, if you know what I mean?
Next would be to take the pipe off between the pump and tank and connect to a garden hose to pump water through the pump. With the water turned on, try the washer, it might take a while for the valves in the pump to free up.

Bought a refurbed Kew 1502v for £550 inc vat. Good pressure and gets really hot, if anything catastrophic happened to it I'd just buy another. The new ones at £1000+ aren't built as well and seem to break down more often with sensors and electrics.

I spotted this jet wash about 4 years ago in a national grid stores whilst I was carrying out works on one of their stations. It was clear they did not use it so I asked if it was possible to buy it. Answer back then was no. I returned to do some work at the station again just before Christmas and they gave it to me . They did say I didn't get much use , they tried to use it 18 months ago and could not get it to work.
It can't be much wrong with it as it had been stored in a heated building all it's life . When I take the blue cover off , it all looks like new . I do have perished fuel pipe coming from the diesel tank . But I have turned the temp to zero. I shall have a look at the filter you are referring to as I have not checked this. Cheers

I am no expert on them but have worked on mine, just trial and error. The burner won't fire if the pump is just idling as it has a pressure sensor. There are three very small plastic valves in the head of the pump, just take out the four allen head screws pull the top of the pump to the side with the pressure pipe still attached, you can pull the little valves out complete with their housing, they sometimes get tiny pieces of lime scale or grit in them. Otherwise there are two big brass solenoids that could stick, one is attached to the pump top that you remove to get the plastic valves and one is under the heating coil and hard to get to. You can undo the solenoids and sand paper the brass housings.

The easiest thing to do is just sell it to me!

I have had a little play this evening. I can't seem to pull them valves out.dont suppose you are local to Norwich. This is frustrating me now . I put the pump head back on and there does seem to be a little more pressure there, but I have not had a hose connected, have been topping the reservoir up from a bucket.

It ca
Before you buy it tell them to put a decent length hose on it, and a good quality one (n)
me with a decent hose, plus hose from jet wash to lance and a Kew spinning brush. This really does not look more the a year or 2 old even though it is old. Will post pics tomorrow .

I only use mine for washing a car and a van once a week, always better to be on top of the job though! Get some Nerta truck wash too, £50 for 25 litres but it really shifts the crap.
