Steel Frame Building Price & Insulated sheets?

We are trying to decide who would be best to go with,

Looking at the quotes it's Fowler and Gilbert we are thinking about, has anyone got any experience with them? Do they price match?
We have an price from SJB Steel aswell which they Supply/Deliver/Erect for an very good price, anyone had an shed from them?

Most prices are £2000 - £4000 for erection, we do have machinery to put up ourselves,

The building will be used to store machinery but it's possible in the future we might change the use to an workshop? So would we be better off getting Insulated metal sheets now? Currently the prices for 0.7MM roof sheets and 0.5MM Side cladding then we'll have concrete panels for bottom cladding (box profile Plastisol) Timber Perlins,

How much more are we looking to spend to do this with Insulated metal sheets or would we be better off getting agricultural spec for now then spray foaming if we change use to workshop

Thank you

Just been through this myself. the Non insulated roof is much heavier than the insulated so that’s easy enough

Much cheaper to go insulated now than retro fit in a few years.

just make sure the steels are big enough for commercial spec - with people working inside they need to be bigger than for ag spec.

upto you if you fancy Building it but consider HSE and all the joys that go with it!

Erecting price £2-4k? Doesn't sound like much, how big is the shed? Insulated panels are pretty expensive, also depends on the thickness of panel you want or need? You could always over clad and insulate the single .7 skin in the future. If it was me I'd swap your wood purlins for galv zed section before thinking insulated or not. Also @Doing it for the kids how could a composite panel be lighter than a single skin sheet? and I dont think the steel needs to necessarily be bigger for commercial spec.

Yeahh that's the price and it's not large only 12M X 18M Machinery Shed the Insulated sheets are about 3 times more expensive per Meter, so definitely much more,

We think that ir would be better to Just over clad Ideally as and when

And the Z Perlins are only £200 extra so we are going with them aswell

We do feel confident in putting the shed up we have the equipment needed and we would be able to find time to build ir, it's Just the uprights we would struggle with, getting them done properly, maybe we'd be better off getting someone to do the uprights, what price would this be around?

Thanks

"Fibre cement sheets have a weight of 16.5kg/,m2 and 80mm composite sheets are 13.2kg/m2"

Steel is bigger on commercial than agri as the building has to meet much higher regs regarding amount of time people spend inside it.

Grain store steel would be/is bigger spec than livestock steel, but still industrial spec is a different BS and class number, not just bigger steal. Ultimately it all seems a bit of a racket on a small scale industrial/agri level. If it can hold a few hundred T of grain it'll house some storage or a workshop no problem. But very different on multi storey shopping centres and high populated buildings.

I’ve just had a commercial and Ag building both quoted to the same spec -
EN 1090 EXC 2

what does that mean then!?

That is not the spec, that just means they are CE marked to execution class 2, so basically they have a ticket to say the welding is all done by coded welders and they keep a paper trail for the job. In theory you should be able to pick up 1 piece of steel for your building and they should be able to trace it right back to the mill it came from and rolling number it was produced on.

You want to ask for an ag spec quote based on BS5502 and an industrial spec based on BS5950 if you want a true ag v industrial quote.

Hi All,
Fowler & Gilbert have not been able to deliver a shed that we agreed contractually 4 months ago..they are asking for extra money and refusing to refund our deposit! They have screwed me badly..avoid at all costs

The price of new buildings has certainly increased that's a fact but if you want to cancel I can't see why they would want to keep deposit , perhaps a small amount if they did drawings or did a planning application on your behalf

Have had good experiences of F & G, both in quality supplied and the build teams.
The erection quote you have got seems very reasonable.
