Stick your finger in the air ….

Farming shall rise again

There is a lot of environmental/government policy nonsense out there that doesn't hold any true long term value, if you believe in 'the truth always comes out in the end' then... patience. Eventually the true value of farming will return..

"Hey Tommy, I didn't hear no bell"
Unfortunately there’s also an old saying, it’ll get worse before it gets better.
I don’t expect the government to change tak until they’ve completely and utterly buggered things up beyond belief

There would need to be change at WTO level to have any return to subsidised production and I can’t see that happening.

in any case current ag funding in the uk is only guaranteed for this parliament. SFI will disappear next parliament with the only sub being for large landowners and charities willing to rewild large swathes of land. Higher commodity prices will make it a difficult sell to put public money into supporting farmers. It will be a case of live of the market, re wild/plant trees or set up a camp site.

The supposed cost of living crisis is a myth, busted wide open by the amount of people travelling on their jollies over Easter. Anyone who thinks government will subsidise farmers to lower the cost of food is deluded.
I wouldn't worry, people will live the life of Reilly until their credit cards break, then blame the government.

credit cards, l see the 'easy' ones to get, as advertised, charge 40% interest.
which is probably quite sensible, certain a lot of people, max out their cards, then go bust, that extortionate rate, has to cover those that are written off.
Not sure l would want to be supplying credit cards, even at 40%, with the cost of living rising rapidly !
