stiff necked lambs

had 6 stiff necked lambs last week,4 were twins .the other twin being normal,2 were singles.all survived, they walk around with their heads down making suckling difficult.normally only have 1 of this type of condition a year .they are all suffolk x out of cheviot ewes.is this a result of the awful weather over the last 3 weeks in s.w. scotland or is it genetic?the tups were bought last autumn,so it is their first season.4 suffolk tups were bought and the problems are only in 1 batch of ewes where 2 of the tups were used.these stiff necked lambs look like miniature buffaloes.also had more ring neck wombs than normal 5 so far ,usually only get 1 a season.

I've had a dozen or so of those this year when I might normally get one or two, from the same tups on the same ewes. Suggests there's nothing genetic, just something odd that's happened somewhere along the line? Had a buch blood tested for trace elements, and all was OK (inc Se) as bolused at scanning.

They can be a bit slow to find the teat, so if I'm in any doubt & it's sub-zero, I get them in for the first few hours. They have normally found the teat and necks straighten by the next day. Odd one.
